//THE COVID-19 VIRUS

Update From Connect Church (as of 3/20/2020)

>> No gatherings<<

As you well know, our local federal, state, and local officials have issued guidelines limiting gathers to no more than 10 individuals.  As a church, we are doing our part to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus.

For years, we have proclaimed that the Church is not a weekend service or a building.  In fact, we recently held our weekend gatherings on the campus of a Middle School.  So, we all clearly understand that Connect Church is the people who form it.

During this unprecedented time, we are finding new ways to connect outside of weekends gatherings and groups. We’re continuing to agree in prayer, together, for the healing of those with COVID-19 disease caused by the Coronavirus.  We’re also believing, together, for the stop of the spread of this virus in our nation and around the world.

Update From Connect Church (as of 3/13/2020 @ 3PM)

>>There is no gathering this Sunday, March 15, 2020.<<

Good afternoon Connect Church family.  We are writing to you in order to inform you that we have received notification from the Forney Independent School District that they will be closing all school campuses next week as an effort to help mitigate the communal spread of the COVID-19 virus.

As you well know, we meet on a FISD campus for our weekend gatherings.  Due to the school closure, we will not gather this Sunday, March 15th.  We will continue to monitor the situation and will update you next week as things further develop.  We understand that this news might come as a relief to some, and a disappointment to others. And we know that all of us would rather be gathering as usual for worship and fellowship. But, you know what we say at Connect Church… WE are the Church.

As the Church, we ask you to join us in prayer for our communities.  Let’s agree together on the stopping of the spread of this Coronavirus (COVID-19).  And let’s also agree together that panic and fear will not win.  As believers, we possess the peace and comfort of the Holy Spirit.  And that has been placed in us through Christ for the purpose of sharing.  We have such a great “sharing” opportunity in front of us this week!

As a church community at Connect, we believe in the healing power of our Father.  And we pray that this current situation will open many doors for the life-giving message of Jesus to be shared with others.

In the Book of Matthew, we see how Jesus handles situations like this:

“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.” (Matthew 4:23 NIV)

One of our favorite things about being in a community like Connect Church, is joining with believers like you and agreeing to see God do incredible things within the communities we live and work. God works in such big ways!

Let’s continue to make a difference in our world by sharing the life-giving message of Jesus to all those around us!

An Update From Connect Church as of 3/13/2020 @ 11:00AM

We are continuing to monitor the situation

//See latest email notice: https://mailchi.mp/3ccdb3b80ad0/update

Like everyone else, we are staying connected to what is being reported in the news as well as the advice and recommendations of experts, the CDC, and our government.

The health and safety of our church community is of utmost importance. So, we want to take all measures necessary.

And, given that we gather inside of a public school, the school district’s decision to remain open or closed, will impact our Sunday gatherings. As of 3/13/2020 @ 11:00AM, Forney Independent School District schools are still planning to open next week following Spring Break. Therefore, we are also planning to have our weekend service on Sunday March 15th. [THIS HAS BEEN UPDATED ABOVE – 3/13/2020 @ 3:00PM]

We will continue to keep you informed of any changes or cancellation of our weekend services. We are monitoring this situation day by day. No matter what – even if we aren’t able to gather over a weekend, we will still worship… we will still pray… and we will still give generously. That’s because our God is alive, He is powerful, He is faithful, and He is our Healer!

“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.” (Matthew 4:23 NIV)

When things like this occur in our world, the Church – His light in the darkness – can shine peace, comfort, hope, and love to all those who may be seeking or afraid. Let’s make a difference in the world by sharing the life-giving message of Jesus to all those around us!
